Wrapping Up RSPCA Cupcake Day 2011
I know I’m about 2 weeks late to post about this, but this had to be done!
{I wasn’t involved in the production process but} 14 hours later of mixing, baking, piping, packing we had about 700+ cupcakes (can’t remember exact figures!) on sale at the 2nd annual RSPCA Cupcake Day at UNSW.
Some flavours included;
- Mocha
- Passion Fruit
- Vanilla and Cream Cheese
- Strawberry Vanilla
- Red Velvet
- Chocolate Mousse
We also had chocolate chip cookies on sale too!
Tiny Chef, her friends and I guarded the stall from 9AM – 4PM, with hopes of clearing the table… and we DID!
We raised $1196.65 worth of PROFIT which went straight to RSPCA! Such a wonderful effort team! Definitely beat last year’s earnings! Many thanks to those who bought cupcakes just for this cause, or told us to keep the change, or donated money without getting cupcakes in return!
I’d like to thank Tiny Chef and her team for putting together a great ‘Cupcake Day’ experience for everyone!

In collaboration with UNSW PhotoClub ;D

I’m hoping we will be able to see RSPCA Cupcake Day at UNSW next year!

RSPCA Cupcake Day @ UNSW Aug 15th 2011
Remember a year ago, I organised Cupcake Day for the RSPCA at UNSW?
We sold about 500 cupcakes and raised $700ish dollars!
This year, I’m helping out my friend, Michelle from Tiny Chef Cupcakes on RSPCA Cupcake Day @ UNSW – Monday 15th August!

I personally love Tiny Chef’s Cupcakes and find that she makes the best (softest) batter, best cream cheese topping aka best cupcakes! (also nice and moist!)
I’m not sure what flavours she has planned to bake for this coming Monday’s RSPCA Cupcake Day @ UNSW but she told me, there will be 7 flavours, and approx 500-600ish cupcakes in total! She will be selling a variety of cookies too for the non-cupcake-lovers!
We’ll be setting up infront of the UNSW Main Library from 9AM – 4PM, (Enter through High st, Gate
so…… if you’re a student at UNSW or live nearby, pretty please drop by to our table and pick up some delicious cupcakes for you and your loved ones, whileee helping out a good cause! All money raised will be going straight to RSPCA!
Check out what flavours and services Tiny Chef Cupcakes has to offer on her Facebook Page! (remember to LIKE

Seeee you on Monday! (Remember to bring your friends along, especially the Super Cupcake Eaters 8-D)

Sydney Food Bloggers XMAS Picnic 2010
twitter: #sydfoodblogxmas
*PIC HEAVY =)*
Several weeks ago, I received an invitation from Helen (grab your fork) and Suze (chocolatesuze) to the Annual Sydney Food Bloggers XMAS Picnic. Then I realized, I’m a food blogger! …. who lacks the fancy foodie terms in writing, but makes up for it with food photography…. nonetheless it seems that I belong in that category now. At first I was a little nervous about the whole idea, to go or not to go. For one, I’m a little shy when it comes to meeting strangers, more specifically a mass of strangers! … (Funny I say/feel that because I’ve been meeting strangers all year being part of the UNSW PhotoClub Exec Commitee), I guess I was afraid of the awkwardness because I’m only new to this field and also did not follow many food blogs … only about a pinch of those who are attending… and I wouldn’t know anyone!
So a week before the picnic, I picked up my courage and decided to RSVP ‘Attending’!, Gotta have my first time right? I believe it is also great to meet other food bloggers not only to socialize but perhaps it will be a way to motivate myself to keep ‘foodblogging’!.
The Day of the XMAS Picnic;
It was nerve-racking, yet exciting …. I was so caught up that morning with unfinished worked that I had to quickly cook up my dish for the picnic … Mini Salmon Quiches! I was in such a rush that I did not get to take a nice photo of them

But, recipe to come soon!
After doing several drive-arounds in Centennial Park, I finally found the picnic spot near the gargoyles { i never knew they existed in the park! }

The scene of food bloggers picnic was just as I expected – snappy cameras, an abundance of food and hungry bloggers!
Food wise I didn’t realize how high the standards of dishes there would be! Alot of the dishes there were food-photo worthy! I feel so bad for not putting effort in plating up my mini salmon quiches *hides in shame* …. next time!

My mini salmon quiches far left
I have to say its the fanciest picnic I have been to by far! From pork ribs, pretty little sweet and savoury pastries, nicely decorated xmas themed sweets and a macaron tower…. just to name a few… I’m so glad I decided to attend!
Didn’t get around to taking photos of everything because the food kept on coming! and by then people were jumping in for the food!
Anyway, shall let the following photos feed your curiousity

Georgia (Bakery Bookery)’s Cheese with Cranberry and Walnuts

*insert lovely blogger*’s Chocolate Cupcakes? Faces are so cute!

*insert lovely blogger*’s beautifully decorated mini cupcakes

Ayana (Oh Ayana)’s Strawberry and cream Santas – I had one of these! Looked too good to eat but they were so yummy!

*insert lovely blogger*’s Apple, Walnut, Cinnamon, Olive oil Cupcakes

I didn’t get around to trying these! So I’m not sure what they are… but its definitely chocolate!

John (He needs food)’s White chocolate wontons with pine nut + rosemary praline

Demos & Gianna (The Empty Fridge)’s Keftedes aka Greek Beef Meatballs …. these were yummmyy!!

Then everyone had their eyes glued on the arrival of the macaron tower which Cleony (i eat sweet) beautifully put together!!

Oh HAI Santa!

shh! even my tastebuds have a subconscious obsession for *red*
Hungry & Snap-Happy Food Bloggers!

Then we had the food blogger olympics!
16 of us made it into the Food Blogger Olympics!.. it was the luck of the draw… I was one of the 16 – in Team 1 aka Team ASIA.. So original I know
My awesome team mates:
- Marvin (Eat Marvin)
- Monica (Love my food and sugar)
- Ken (Cupcakie Dolly)

Gather around the mat for the Food Blogger Olympics!

Round 1: Chopsticks race; transfer 50 soybeans into the other bowl using chopsticks! It didn’t look easy..

Round 2: Blind food tasting

Round 3A: Food Plating – styling the left over picnic food on a plate! Contestants had their eye on the macaron tower, but team 3(?) was fast at getting the whole tower!

styled by Marvin (Eat Marvin) and Photographed by Me!
Round 3B: Food Photography – I took part in this challenge, and here’s my shot (we had to use our phones) of Marvin’s styled plate of food.
In the end…. Team ASIA came 2nd! We scored ourselves silver medals! Good job team!
I’m not sure who came first… i think Billy (a table for two)’s team did!??
Secret Santa time!
Secret Santa time was full of laughs; there was about 60 of us by the way, so you can imagine how long it took! and lots of laughs along the way! it wasn’t just picking out a prezzie from the pile.. but we can steal from others! I thought snatch stealing but it was nicer than that… *I want your ______!* Then we had to hand it over! Yeah several presents were quite popular and were stolen from the initial recipients such as my Cakewich !
Just when I was about to take a photo of it… I had to hand it up! So here’s what it is:

how awesome is this cake-wich mold???

Lots of Pressies!!

Unwrapping present!

A tray of mango makes a pretty awesome present!

Sarah (Belly Rumbles) has my cakewich!… but after several rounds of stealing I’m not sure who got it in the end!
In the end I got myself a bottle of shiraz; Kite Runner, thank you Secret Santa!

Overall, it was an enjoyable and YUMMY picnic, lots of new names and faces… and definitely alot of blogs to add to my reader! I appologize for not reading up on the list of attendees blogs before the event! But I will certainly do so! I hope I can remember everyone I met, if not I hope that I will get to meet you next time round! =)) *if you met me/vice versa.. do leave a comment here so I remember you ^_^*
But anyway, nice to meet you! …
and Merry Foodie Xmas!!!
thanks again Helen (grab your fork) and Suze (chocolatesuze) for organizing a successful picnic!
